T-shirts and shorts

So Zephyr's shirts were getting a little short and I am just trying to clean out my sewing room.  The skull shirt I actually bought the fabric specifically to make a long sleeved shirt for him, because I found the fabric on the super cleanrance rack at Joann's.  Zephyr was excited because he has a short sleeved shirt out of the same fabric that he got for his 3rd birthday.

The striped shirt  was just me trying to use up fabric from my stash.  The fabric wasn't quite tall enough, so I actually pieced the white stripe across the chest in.  I also pieced one in the back.  I think because of the stripes you can hardly tell, but he should get some good use of that shirt, especially when it warms up in the spring/summer next year.

Jaguar Outfit

When I went to Iowa my old Boss, who is like a surrogate Aunt to me, insisted on taking me fabric shopping.  I had a great time and picked out stuff to make for all the kids.  So I made the skirt for Prairie, but the outfit didn't seem complete, so I found just enough black knit to make her that t-shirt and appliqued the heart on.  Prairie LOVES it and wore it 3 days in a row, and I said something about it, and I guess Ben liked the outfit too, because it was on his suggestion she was wearing it the third day.

This is the best picture of the skirt.  It is a simple straight skirt with elastic waistband, with a 6" circle skirt ruffle.

Flower shirt repurposed

I made Autumn some pajamas in 2006, when she was 3.  They got used a lot and the feet got completely trashed and the zipper fell apart.  I decided as pajamas they weren't  salvageable, but if I was creative I could cut out a shirt.  So I cut out a shirt for Zephyr and he loves it.  He pretty much as wanted to wear it every single day since I finished it.

I made these shorts a day after I got this shirt completed, but no picture by itself

Here is Autumn wearing the original pajamas in 2006

Burp Cloth

Another baby project, just finishing up projects I had cut up.  This will make a nice addition to the pile of presnts for someone with a baby.

I had a wonderful model for the burp cloth

Cow Dress and Bloomers

So this project in no way is an announcement, this is something that I think I cut out like 7 years ago, and never got around to sewing it.  Which is a real shame because I made a dress for Autumn when she was 2 out of this fabric, so Autumn and Prairie could have had matching dresses.  Anyway it was fun to sew up this dress.  This will probably go in the pile of, this will make a good baby gift for someone.

Also I decided that snaps are such a pain to put on, so I put a zipper in.  I have a whole box of zippers from my Grandma's house.  She would be so pleased that I am using up her supplies.

Autumn's Jacket

This was some fabric that my former boss bought for me when I was in Iowa.  This is a perfect jacket for Utah fall mornings, where the sun is still behind the mountain, and it is chilly, but by the afternoon it is blazing again.  Autumn was really happy with this jacket.

Zephyr's Pants and Shorts

So Zephyr doesn't get a lot of hand me downs from his sisters, so he is usually lacking in clothes.  So fall/winter is coming upon us and I was realizing that all of his pants were high waters, so I needed to do something about that.  So I started gathering fabric I had leftover from other projects, or pants of mine that ripped that I could cut up pants for him.  So when we were watching a movie as a family I brought a stack of fabric up and cut up all these pants and shorts.  The goal was to get a bunch of pants, but I realized that he is getting tall enough that my scraps are too short to make pants, so I cut up a bunch of shorts too, and thought I might as well get them all sewed up, instead of them sitting in my sewing cabinet and never getting to them.  So here is a bunch of clothes for Zephyr.

I made him this pair of knit pants and matching t-shirt.  Then after I finished them I was consulting a list I made at the beginning of the summer to help me finish up unfinished projects.  I forgot that I had boughten this fabric to make me another pair of workout capris.  Oh well, he will get a lot of use out of them.

So these pants and shorts sew up really quickly with my new serger.  Not pictured is one pair of black shorts, they got left down in the sewing room, oh well, you can imagine them.

Swimming Onesie

Okay so I am on a mission to clean out my sewing room.  So I have a bunch of projects that I cut out at one time or another and I have decided I am just going to finish the projects, even if I have no use for them right now.  So this is the first example of finishing off a project that has no use right now.

This was a swimming onesie I was making for Zephyr when he was 1 (2.5 years ago).  All I had left was hemming it and putting on snaps...WHY didn't I just finish it then!  He would have gotten so much use out of it!  So I don't know what we will do with it, maybe I will just put it away to give as a baby gift, but it is done and can be moved out of my cabinets from my sewing room.

Zephyr's BYU Jammies

When my mom and I were at the fabric store Zephyr also found some BYU fleece.   His BYU jammies that I made him a year and a half ago and getting pretty small, and he has big holes in the feet, so I thought it was time to make him some bigger jammies.  The size 4T looked like it was going to be too small, so I went to the next size up and it is 4-5.  They are a little baggy, but hopefully they will fit next winter too.

Zephyr's BYU sweats

I made Zephyr a pair of BYU pajamas like a year and a half ago.  There was some fabric leftover but not enough to make a whoel shirt or pants, so I got some dark blue fleece to fill in the rest of the outfit.

Iron Board Cover

I have a very small sewing room.  The full sized ironing board was too big for my room.  I found a smaller ironing board that would still setup as high as I liked, so my mom got me that ironing board while she was here.  But the cover that came with it at Ikea just clashed with my sewing room decor, so of course I HAD to make a new cover.  I love this fabric I got at Joann's, I think it coordinates nicely with the curtains I have in there.
This is the original ironing board with the cover it came with

BYU pants

Zephyr went to a fabric store with Mommy and Grandma.  When he found BYU fabric he was in heaven and of course Grandma spoiled him and got him some.  We thought they would make some nice pants.

This is a sweatshirt I made him last winter.  Of course anything BYU goes with BYU.

The Y jacket

This is a repurpose project, but of course I didn't take a before picture, because I was too excited to start the project.  The original looked almost exactly like the above picture, except instead of BYU, it just had the Y logo.

Ben won it at a conference he went to, but it was the wrong size for Ben, and it just wasn't the kind of thing I was going to wear.  He tried to exchange it to get store credit, but it was from like 3 years ago.  So I decided I could make something for our big cougar fan (Zephyr).

So I decided to make him a jacket and was so happy with some creative cutting I was able to get a hooded jacket size 4-5 out of it.

My mom taught me how to do jacket lining and learned first the wrong way to do the arms so that the lining is all sewn in, so redid it so it actually worked.  I was so happy with this project and Zephyr loves it.  He wore the jacket EVERYWHERE for a number of days.

I found some great BYU flannel to line the jacket

My mom had gotten this Letter Y for Zephyr back in December so it was a nice detail for the front of the jacket.  Also I added the white piping by the zipper.

This was the front of the pullover, but I made it the back for zephyr's jacket.  I did not applique this Y and the nike swoosh, that was on the original.

Finished Dragonfly Dress

I started this dress in 2008 (I might have even bought the fabric at the end of 2007, I don't really remember. The last time I did significant work on this dress was Spring of 2008.  If you want to an update on this dress you can see it here.

So I finally pulled it out and decided to finish it (it also would finally fit again).  I had to take the band apart, and piece some more pieces to make it fit, and take out some darts I put in.  Anyway it is all done, and I am sooo pleased with it!
